CISSP Study Plan – Day 28 of 55 | Strategies for CISSP Practice Questions

Updated: Oct 5

"15 minutes for each practice question set, brilliant move as you study this deep into the CISSP game! Sometimes the wrong answers tell us more!"– Luke Ahmed

Today is Day 28 of Yihenew’s CISSP study plan, focusing on strategies for approaching CISSP practice questions — not just to memorize answers, but to understand how the exam thinks.

Key Areas Covered:

  • 15-Minute Rule — short, focused bursts improve recall. Yihenew studies in tight intervals to simulate exam pacing.

  • Elimination Technique — remove obviously wrong options first to focus on risk-aligned choices.

  • Spot the Scope — identify if the question is asking for prevention, detection, or response. Many test-takers miss this cue.

  • Manager’s Mindset — on CISSP, you’re not the engineer patching systems — you’re the decision-maker allocating resources.

  • Look for Traps — “most,” “first,” “best,” or “least” questions change everything. Read every word.

  • Wrong Answers Teach Patterns — review why each option is wrong to reveal exam logic.

  • CISSP Exam Tie-In — mastering question logic builds endurance for the adaptive test, which rewards consistent reasoning, not memorization.

In this CISSP study plan session, Yihenew doubled down on exam practice — refining how to think through each question, not just racing for completion.

Quick CISSP Practice Question

When approaching CISSP practice questions, what should your primary focus be?

A. Memorizing specific answers

B. Understanding why answers are right or wrong

C. Finishing as many questions as possible

D. Choosing the most technical response

Correct Answer: B. Understanding why answers are right or wrong

Explanation:

  • The goal isn’t volume — it’s analysis. Understanding logic behind each answer develops real exam intuition.

  • CISSP rewards reasoning aligned with risk, governance, and business context, not speed or technical recall.

Think Like a Manager: Each wrong answer is a case study. Ask yourself: Why would this choice fail in a real organization? That’s the question the CISSP exam writers want you to think through every time.
