Winter is always a time of continuous critical thinking on this complex topic: what to do with the kids instead of being in the house all day?

My day consists of thinking about what problems were solved on the firewalls at work, what new CISSP content to create for the member's portal, catching up on email, answering direct messages, and what new fun act...

Life in security has been one of sporadic accomplishment and constant humility.  As in, I can resolve most firewall related problems, but other times just completely (and shamefully) miss the mark.  Luckily, I work with some brilliant network security engineers who are there to help.

It started out with a simple change inquiry from our netw...

You've read a few books, or a single book, cover to cover.

You've taken over 3,000 practice questions.

Your non-copyright-infringing PDF notes are always within reach.

You know about securing data in motion, your knowledge of cloud computing topics is solid and your network security concepts may not all be there, but you've accepted this risk.  You'...

Just the fact you even took the exam is an achievement by itself.  Be proud of just this accomplishment regardless of pass or fail.

The CISSP is an elite exam known to only a few, as security is still a small sector in the overall information technology industry.  I know sometimes in the Facebook group it feels like everyone is...

"Should I read the books and then watch the videos?"

"Should I watch videos after I read each CISSP domain?"

"When should I take practice questions? After reading the entire book, watching the videos, or after reading each domain?"

These are a combination of some of the common questions I get when a CISSP aspirant is just starting out their studies and wants...

Cross-domain correlation is a technique I (think?) I created when studying for the CISSP exam.  It's the process of picking a random topic in one domain, and then trying to relate it to another random topic in the other 7 domains.  The point was to confirm my knowledge of the concepts across a broad spectrum of CISSP topics.  The idea is that everything i...

"Can anyone suggest where I can get some CISSP practice questions?"

That's the most common question after "Where Do I Start Studying for the CISSP?"

Below is a list of some quick sources of CISSP practice questions.

I haven't really taken all of the below test engines to provide a thorough review, but the ones I do highlight are the ones I can actually vouc...

Some security professionals become a member of the site to watch the videos, take the practice questions, read the PDF notes, take the exam, pass the exam, and then...

The Problem

You have worked in risk, project management, software development, or a security analyst role.  You have no idea about networking, subnetting, firewalls, VPNs, or the OSI Model.  Network security has just never been part of your role.  But now suddenly you're taking the CISSP exam and you have to learn about network security.  It's making you n...

Should you stick with the Sybex 7th Edition?

Or buy the Sybex 8th Edition for the new April CISSP Exam update?

I'd go with the new one, but it shouldn't matter that much.  If you want to be absolutely sure of covering all the topics, even the new ones like Internet of Things and Attribute-Based Access Control, then go for the 8th Edition.  ...
